Today, we recap the Brenthel Brothers ride with the FOX Factory Truck as they run the modified Silverado 1500 through its paces on a pre-run of the Baja 500 course. These guys are used to the open cab, open air experience in their trophy truck, but today they’re throwing dirt in comfort with a bold off-road truck that's a blend of capability and luxury.
For those who may be unfamiliar with pre-running, it’s like practice laps for the actual race. Jordan and Jonathan Brenthel took the two trucks through the real Baja course that is over 500 miles long in Baja California, Mexico. During this time, they identified potential hazards, took notes and memorized the course for the upcoming race. Of course today, for this video, they do so with all of the creature comforts, including a windshield and air conditioning.

The cool part about pre-running in these trucks is that it’s both functional and enjoyable. It’s like the Wild West out there—adventurous, unpredictable and exciting. Through this pre-run, the brothers hoped to educate the world on just how capable the Fox Factory Truck is as an off-road truck that's built to dominate terrain and turn heads.
Navigating the Course in the FOX Factory Truck
“Our navigation is done based on a 1-to-6 system to describe turns. A “six” is a slight curve, while a “one” is a full-blown hairpin turn, "Jordan explained. This system helps them drive efficiently, even when we can’t see around the bend. For example, if the turn is a “five” the driver knows they stay on throttle while remaining vigilant. Jordan noted that you still should drive smart through tight or rocky sections to avoid overheating and tire damage.

As the brothers maneuver the course, it’s hard for them not to reminisce about past races down the Baja, and how much history is behind it. Included in these traditions was a visit to the Acambaro restaurant for lunch, a staple in the Baja 500 racing community. Everything from the locals to the fellow competitors, highlights the importance of the race and why enthusiasts everywhere keep coming back for more.
Performance Highlights
“Having the Fox Factory truck down here in Baja – it feels like we finally crossed the finish line. We’ve been working on this project (FOX Factory, the entire team, Jonathan and I) everyone’s been working together talking about it. Having the trucks here while they’re now in production and orders are being placed, this is the finish line and it's a sigh of relief and an accomplishment,” Jordan says.

Overall, the FOX Factory truck combines top-tier, long travel suspension with exceptional comfort. They’re a cut above your typical “bolt-on” build, with fully integrated, balanced off-road truck capability and everyday drivability.
This didn’t go unnoticed by the Baja community who had positive reactions that the Brenthel noted as rewarding. For the brothers, it drove home the point that these aren’t just another set of expensive trucks—they’re meticulously designed and engineered vehicles that are built to deliver on or off-road. “That’s what makes being here in Baja so special: proving what these trucks can do, in comfort, where it matters most,” Jordan stated.
